According to The Sun this morning, out of sorts NUFC midfielder Mo Diame looks set to leave the club in January with Turkish sides Goztepe and Sivasspor both ready to seal a £2.5m deal – almost half the fee we paid for him just last summer.
The 30 year old has seen his game time become limited since promotion to the Premier League was confirmed, but to say he’s failed to take his chance when first team opportunities have been handed to him would be an understatement.
He was woeful in his latest start in the 0-1 home defeat to Everton, with cheers when he was substituted showing just what several of the St James park crowd thought of him (not that I condone that sort of treatment).
He was recently linked with a move to Aston Villa next month, but fresh reports today suggest he could be heading to Turkey after ‘failing to hold down a first team’ place on Tyneside – with his exit also freeing up space in Rafa Benitez’s squad.
I had high hopes for him when he arrived on the back of a 10-goal season for Hull last summer, but in truth he’s been nowhere near good enough, and his sale in January could make sense for all parties. A move to Goztepe would also see him reunited with former NUFC team-mate Yoan Gouffran.
i think raffa uses him as a spoiler in midfield, and it seems to work because he definately spoils our midfield.

He never looked interested. A move would be good for both parties.
