Sky Sports’ Jim White reveals latest takeover update from a ‘source close to NUFC’

Sky Sports presenter Jim White has provided a slightly confusing update on the NUFC takeover front, claiming that a source close to the deal has admitted that a ‘valuation gap’ remains in a deal between Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley – however it is ‘hoped’ that both parties will still ‘find a way to get a deal done’.

Whilst this update is not an altogether bleak one, suggestions about a difference in valuation from the two parties seems to contradict the huge news that emerged just a few days ago, with widespread reports claiming a £300m deal was ‘very close’.

Here’s what Jim White tweeted, claiming to have gained the below information from a ‘source close to NUFC takeover talks’:

If true, this is a frustrating update, suggesting the deal could actually be less further forward than we were lead to believe last Wednesday.

On the plus side, there’s a constant theme in each and every one of these takeover reports both parties are keen to do business and come to an agreement.

In the precarious position we’re in and given the length of time this appears to be taking, it’s hard to stay patience, but good things may just come to those who wait.

Fingers crossed on this one.

  1. Load of rubbish. White works with Alan Brazil on TalkSh|te Radio – Brazil claims to be a pal of Ashley and privy to his business deals (at least on the sporting side of things). As if. A fair bet that’s where this nonsense came from.
