Exclusive: Benitez ‘keen’ on reunion with Chelsea star via January loan move to NUFC – Dubious reports

Pinch of salt alert, but an exclusive this morning has been claimed by NUFC reporter Miles Starforth (Shields Gazette) this morning, stating that Rafa Benitez is interested in a reunion with Chelsea’s David Luiz at Newcastle United – providing Antonio Conte will allow him to leave on loan in January.

Now, I’m sure Benitez would be interested in pulling of such a deal next month, but this is more than likely a total non starter. The story has now been picked up by the Evening Standard, however I can’t say that makes it any more likely.

They claim that we have joined Arsenal in showing interest in the Brazilian defender ahead of the January window,  stating that a loan deal would be our only option – and even that seems highly unlikely due to his alleged £120,000 per week wage packet.

Luiz has lost his place in the Chelsea first team to Andreas Christensen in recent months. He may be considering his options and Benitez may be keen on being reunited with Luiz (a player he once managed at Chelsea), but this one falls into the bracket of highly unlikely (and that’s putting it mildly).
