According to an amusing exclusive by TEAMtalk, Newcastle United outcast Jack Colback could be set to make a shock return to Sunderland in next month’s January transfer window.
The 28-year-old midfielder has spent three-and-a half years on Tyneside after arriving from Wearside on a free in 2014, however he is yet to feature in a single senior game this season after falling out with Rafa Benitez.
Not only has he been told to train with the youth side and limited to U-23 appearances, he wasn’t even included in the team’s squad photo and looks almost certain to have played his last game in black and white.
With this in mind, he’s now free to leave in January and it appears his old club Sunderland could be ready to take him back on an initial loan deal – with the Sunderland Echo also suggesting he’d be ‘keen’ to return to the Stadium of Light in a bid to remain in the North-East.
One to watch, but him and his alleged £40,000 wage packet would certainly not be missed given his total lack of involvement this season.
