Sky Sports reporter provides triple transfer update as Benitez makes moves for Liverpool & Chelsea men

Sky Sports’ North-East correspondent Keith Downie has confirmed that Benitez does hold interest in David Luiz, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings, but believes NONE of these deals are going to happen despite Rafa’s efforts.

Downie puts this down us being unable to afford them at present, with him also suggesting that uncertainty over Benitez’s budget isn’t helping matters either.

Here’s what he’s had to say on our interest in the Chelsea and Liverpool trio and the likelihood of these deals coming off:

“He’s looked at David Luiz this window. He’d like to bring him on loan until the end of the window but there’s no chance of that happening.

“He’d like to bring in Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool and Danny Ings but these aren’t going to happen. For one they can’t afford it and two he hasn’t even been told the budget.”

Interesting to hear he did actually look at David Luiz, however that is a deal I’d expect us to be totally incapable of pulling off for several reasons. It’s another frustrating update on the transfer ront, mind.

Sturridge would be an expensive deal I’d imagine, but to hear that even a move for an injury riddled Danny Ings ‘isn’t going to happen’ perhaps shows the sad reality of what Rafa is dealing with this month.

  1. what a totally ridiculous article – update on a few players who you’ve NO idea Rafa has any serious plans to approach and then you dismiss them due to your belief that we can’t afford them

Why not add Messi, Bale, Ronaldo and Kane into the same article, all of whom I’m POSITIVE Rafa would be very keen on signing but, hold on, wait a minute, we can’t afford them, they wouldn’t be willing to come, their club wont sell

C’mon – we all know that no news is frustrating but stop lowering yourself down tot eh cheap southern tabloid gutter rumour press
