TalkSPORT reporter confirms Crystal Palace & Newcastle have held talks over loan deal – ‘all parties keen’

A transfer story out the blue here, as TalkSPORT presenter Geoff Peters has confirmed that Newcastle and Crystal Palace have ‘held discussions’ over a loan deal for Senegalese left-back Pape Souare – with him claiming that ‘all parties are keen’ to get it done.

The 27-year old was involved in a horrific car accident in 2016 and has stepped up his recovery this season with Palace, however he now finds himself behind Patrick Van Aanholt and Jerffrey Schlupp in the pecking order and is set to be loaned out in a bid to earn some first-team football once again.

Here’s what TalkSPORT presenter Geoff Peters has had to say on the matter, revealing that ‘all parties are keen’ to do a deal after discussions over a potential move to Tyneside this month:

He has featured for Palace’s first team on just three occasions this season (all in the cup). Whilst he has been set back somewhat by the horrific crash that broke his thigh and jaw, he is a player that impressed me during his first season at Palace in the 2015/16 campaign.

I remember him being an impressive athlete and quite an explosive full back who could whip in a good cross from the left. He had previously looked at home in the Premier League and was a regular at Selhurst Park, so this may be a smart move to give Souare another crack at the whip after an unfortunate year on the sidelines.

With Benitez on the look out for additional left-back options, this could be a decent little signing on loan. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this one.
