The Chronicle’s Chief Sports Writer Lee Ryder has offered a transfer update on incomings and outgoings at NUFC, revealing that we have made ‘progress’ on a deal to bring Kenedy in on loan but have NOT received bids for Jonjo Shelvey, Aleksandar Mitrovic or Chancel Mbemba.
A deal for Kenedy is all in place by all accounts, but it’s reliant on Chelsea signing a replacement. This makes you wonder if they are nearing the signing of a left-wing back that would sanction the Brazilian’s loan move to NUFC?
On outgoings, it’s good and bad news for me. No bids received for Shelvey, Mitrovic and Mbemba may be seen as good news amongst some fans, however I feel we’d be wise to sell the latter two. Sales and creating space in the squad could be vital to Benitez bringing in who he wants this month – and it’s not like Mitrovic and Mbemba would be missed after featuring so infrequently in Rafa’s squads.
#nufc hoping to tie down Kenedy deal on loan after making some progress on the deal. #cfc still to complete deal at this stage. No bids the other way for either Shelvey, Mbemba or Mitrovic. #TransferWindow

Slight update on Kenedy. Player wants the move to SJP, Benitez understood to have asked #nufc for an update and the loan is still at the paperwork stage. Conte also yet to approve the deal. #cfc

As far as Shelvey is concerned, this pours cold water on the outlandish claims from the Express who suggested he was ‘close’ to a £12m move to West Ham.
As I’ve seen on social media this week, quite a few West Ham fans thought he was all set to sign! This’ll shut them up:
Has been doing a club interview about Swansea game at training ground today.

Not news of a new signing holding up the shirt, but a promising update on a few fronts (Kenedy/Shelvey). Several fans will be happy to hear there’s been no offers for Mitrovic and Mbemba, but I think it’s time we accept they’d be better off being sold. No matter how much we may like them or feel they deserve a chance, they don’t have a long-term future at the club.
Sell Shelvey, he’s got an attitude and two red cards in a row spells out the fact he doesn’t care.
give Merino a chance at the playmaker role and buy a decent striker and an attacking RB.
Same thing for most of the present squad, none of which are unsaleable , and I mean none, this club needs a complete rebuild, top to bottom.
