It has been confirmed in the last few moments that Watford have sacked manager Marco Silva – blaming Everton’s ‘unwanted approach’ in November as the catalyst for their awful run of results recently.
The season started so well for them, however a run of 9 defeats in 11 games has seen them move within just 5 points of the relegation zone this weekend – despite them currently sitting in 10th place.
They may well be regretting rejecting Everton’s multi-million pound approach to take Silva earlier in the season, however this just highlights how quickly things can change in the Premier League. He’s went from one of the most sought after Premier League managers to sacked in the space of two months..

So the manager merry-go-round continues, and whilst some may be wondering how this applies to Newcastle, Watford really could be sucked into a relegation scrap. They’re just three points above us in the table and are on a wretched run of form.
The good news for NUFC is this could unsettle them and put them into a real relegation battle if bad results continue. They may struggle to secure a suitable replacement? (Stoke didn’t find it easy!). The downside could be that a new manager arrives and gets them playing again. They’ve got a talent group of players and, in a way, they were in free-fall in recent weeks so a part of me wishes they’d kept an unsettled Silva. Either way, it’s down to us this season to stay up, not other sides.
We shall see, but it’s another one to add to the list, as Silva’s dismissal now makes it EIGHT managers sacked so far this season.
