Following confirmation of the signing of Chelsea’s Kenedy on loan, Rafa Benitez has explained just why he signed the Brazilian and has told NUFC fans what they can expect from the 21-year-old.
As Rafa alludes to, Kenedy is a player we’ve been chasing since the summer, with it being reported back in August that we had a loan deal agreed with Chelsea – however Antonio Conte was unable to find a replacement on that occasion.
So, it’s been second time lucky for Rafa and NUFC, with Kenedy’s arrival on Tyneside being confirmed last night.
Here’s what Rafa’s has had to say about the Brazilian following confirmation of his loan signing, explaining why he brought him to NUFC and what fans can expect from him:
“Kenedy is a player that we have been following since the summer. The reason we are interested is that he can play in several positions – as a winger, a wing back and also as an offensive left full back, so he gives the team many options.
“He has a great left foot and good energy. He is still a young player but he has some experience already in the Premier League and that will help with his adaptation. We welcome him to Newcastle United.”
Interestingly, Rafa praises his ‘left foot’ and his ‘energy’, also mentioning how his versatility will come in useful, stating it was the reason why we were interested – with him being able to play all in any position down the left-hand side.
