Despite claims last night from Sky and the Chronicle that Newcastle’s mystery striker target was in fact Feyenoord’s Nicolai Jorgensen, the Mirror report that the club are also locked in talks with Leicester’s Islam Slimani ahead of potential club record deal.
After waiting all week to find out the unnamed striker ‘in talks’ with NUFC over a potential £20m transfer, it seemed that Jorgensen was the mystery man, however claims from the Mirror (a source under the same ‘Trinity’ brand as the Chronicle) suggest otherwise.
This has rightfully been pointed out by Newcastle fans on social media..
The Chronicle & The Mirror are both under the Trinity brand, yet one said last night that Jorgensen was our mystery striker & the other said it's Slimani (@SimonBird_)..
Jorgensen talk now seems solid, so what's the deal with Slimani..@MsiDouglas @lee_ryder @ChrisDHWaugh #nufc pic.twitter.com/zTcS3frCQk

Simon Bird’s story in the Mirror claim that Benitez and his team have been watching the Algerian striker and state that the club are now ready to break their transfer record to bring him to St James’ Park.
Interesting claims, however it’s hard to know what to believe. Interest in Jorgensen is clear, but is Slimani another option the club are exploring?
Time will tell!
Will the fat 845tard spend the money though ……….?
