Some concerning claims from Holland today, with both De Telegraaf and Telersport reporting that Feyenoord will demand €25m (£22m) for top striker target Nicolai Jorgensen – almost £10m more than the initial €14m (£12.5m) offer we’ve had rejected recently.
They do admit that the Danish international could ‘double’ his wages if he secured a move to Tyneside, which perhaps shows just why Jorgensen is said to be keen on making the move, however this does suggest that our valuations are currently quite a way apart.
Interestingly, this backs up claims from Sky Sports’ Pete Graves yesterday, who did suggest that Feyenoord value the 27-year-old at OVER the £20m mark:
#NUFC latest: Jorgensen remains striker priority, but last seasons Eredivisie top scorer will now cost more than 20m! Other targets being explored. Rafa and Lee Charnley expected to speak today to move forward. Player sales still unlikely at this stage, but interest in a few. 1/2

This is not in-fitting with recent claims that an improved bid of €20m (£17.5m) would be enough to seal his signature, suggesting instead that we must return with a significantly higher bid (than our initial £12.5m one) if we wish to be successful here.
As reported by the Chronicle this morning, Islam Slimani may be seen as a ‘plan B’ if any deal for Jorgensen fails to materialise (e.g we don’t pay up!), however it sounds like Leicester are demanding £20m for the 29-year-old..
Seven days to go folks – time for NUFC to get moving if they are indeed serious about signing Jorgensen.

Jørgensen will suck in PL, mark my words.
