BREAKING: Dutch media announce emphatic update on the future of Feyenoord’s Nicolai Jorgensen

Some breaking news from the continent in the last few moments, with reports from Holland announcing that talks between Newcastle and Feyenoord for Nicolai Jorgensen are now off – meaning the Danish striker will not be arriving on Tyneside this month.

We had submitted official offers of £13m and £15m for the 27-year-old over the past week, however it appears that we were never ready to meet Feyenoord’s alleged asking price of £20m.

Yet another agonising blow for us NUFC fans with just over two days of the window remaining and STILL no striker signed..

Ironically, it was reported in the media from the outset that Newcastle would have to break their transfer record to sign this mystery striker that was initially unnamed. It then soon came out to be the 6ft 3′ Dane Nicolai Jorgensen, yet a week on and not only are we are yet to bid over our existing record fee of £16.5m, a deal now appears to be off.

Fans may have had doubts over the potential signing of an Eredivisie striker, with stars in the Dutch League being known for their mixed success in England, however this is yet another bitter blow for Benitez.

That’s two who appear to have bitten the dust today, with Sturridge all set for West Brom (a relegation rival just to make it worse) and talks for Jorgensen now ‘cancelled’ between the two clubs.

48 hours to save our season. Sort it out Mike/Lee..

  1. So we’ve gone from breaking our transfer record then taking the pi*s out of Feyenoord to chasing a loan crock who ultimately decided that West Brom was a more attractive proposition? By NUFC standards; just a normal week at the office, then?

  2. Nothing changes same old **** another dead end transfer window same old lies, sooner this cancer is cut out of the club the better we will be, can’t see rafa being at toon after Wednesday, why would he stay?

  3. Olly you should check your sources. The Dutch article was based on the fact that the Feyenoord manager said late last week he wanted things sorted out by tonight, because he has an important cup game to prepare for on Wed night. But he has no say on transfers, he does what their DoF says. The article actually mentioned: Feyenoord “only work on a transfer in January if there is a huge transfer amount. What minimum amount Feyenoord had in mind is not officially known. But it will be above 20 million euros.”
That’s £17.5 million, and we already bid £15m by most reports.

Since delivering his so-called “deadline”, the Feyenoord manager was forced to backtrack saying, “We know how things stand and we’ll have to wait and see how the coming days will go.”

The two clubs are still talking. And it would not be surprising if we were keeping Feyenoord dangling, waiting on Sturridge to make up his mind. Now that it seems he has, there could still be an increased offer for Jorgensen.

  5. Rafa will be out of pocket if he walks, we all know there is a clause in his contract meaning he will have pay millions to leave during his contract.
