Feyenoord send warning to NUFC over Jorgensen deal – but has Benitez moved on already..

According to Lee Ryder, Feyenoord officials have told NUFC that they want to hear from them by 6pm today if they wish to sign Nicolai Jorgensen – however it looks like that ship may have already sailed, with breaking news this afternoon confirming that Daniel Sturridge could be set to arrive on loan instead.

Feyenoord are clearly keen to know if we are going to up our bid for their star striker, sending a ‘put up or shut up’ message to the club.

We’ve seen £13m and £15m bids rejected for Jorgensen, but, with the Dutch side said to have a £20m asking price, we have been well below their valuation thus far.

So, it looks like Jorgensen may be a no-go if an improved and acceptable bid is not lodged by NUFC when the clock strikes 6 later today, although the latest development surrounding Daniel Sturridge suggests that we may have already moved on.

The Times, the Chronicle and BBC Radio Newcastle all claim that the club are now looking to get a loan deal secured for the England international striker.

Let us know your thoughts folks – would you prefer to see us up our bid for Jorgensen or sign Sturridge on loan?

  1. Sturrudge should have been our number 1 target from the first minute of the transfer window opening. Can’t believe it’s taken us this long to register an interest. I really hope our indecisiveness doesn’t put his guy off joining us on loan. Should never be chucking 15-20 mil at a foreign player in the Dutch league which is notorious for sending the premiership flops especially up front when you have 2 players like Ings and Sturrudge in need of first team football.
