Following his deadline day loan move to Nottingham Forest, Jack Colback has hit back at Rafa Benitez and NUFC, saying there has been ‘no respect’ shown to him ‘whatsoever’ at Newcastle United recently.
As we know, Colback has been left to rot in the reserves ever since the summer, with him not only failing to make a single matchday squad with the first team, but also being banished from the squad photo by Benitez.
The former Mackem (yep, let’s call him that now) made his first appearance for Forest on Saturday against a Fulham side that featured a certain Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Since then he’s had this to say to the press, suggesting that Rafa has shown him ‘no respect’ at all:
“It’s been difficult. To be honest with you, there’s been no respect shown my way whatsoever (at Newcastle).
“It’s my first game in four or five months, and I’m just pleased to get through it.”
“I felt alright and a lot better than I thought. It’s nice to be in the first team environment here.”
Now, what we do know if Colback and Rafa have clearly had a fall out, but just what went on is quite uncertain. One thing I will say is that it wouldn’t be in Benitez’s character to banish him for no reason?
The likes of Saivet, Mbemba, Mitrovic, Haidara and Gamez had so often failed to be included in his matchday squads, but he didn’t banish them as he did with Colback.
Given Jack seems to think that the club has showed him absolutely no respect, it makes you wonder whether Benitez came down on him a little hard, however I really do wonder what he did to then be treat how he was.
I would love to know what actually went on between the two..
