Despite Notts County boss Kevin Nolan admitting that the club were ‘discussing’ a potential move for Nile Ranger, it turns out the former Newcastle striker WILL NOT be handed a lifeline by the League Two side, with owner Alan Hardy having ruled out a move for him.
After after being sacked by Southend last month, his potential move to ‘the Magpies’ would’ve not only seen him link up with ex-NUFC captain Kevin Nolan, but also with Shola Ameobi and midfield veteran Alan Smith – two ex-Mags STILL playing in the football league despite their combined age of 73!
So, it isn’t to be for Ranger, but given he’s had his contract terminated by his last FOUR employers and scored just 26 goals in 160 career appearances, this news may not go down too badly with Notts County fans. And I’m quite sure that most football fans feel he doesn’t deserve yet another chance either.
He was on a list, along with several others, but none of those are being pursued https://t.co/aOTl7futqn

Interestingly, Kevin Nolan admitted in an interview before the above announcement that he is ‘such a lovely kid’, stating that he ‘really got on well with him’ when the two player together at St James’ Park several years ago.

He does mention that he was wary that he could be a burden on the dressing room, however, so it seems they’ve decided not to take the risk on him after all.
You can hardly blame them.
