Jamaal Lascelles gives brilliant insight into what Martin Dubravka has done so well since joining NUFC

NUFC skipper Jamaal Lascelles has admitted what’s impressed him so much about Martin Dubravka since his deadline day arrival, stating that he was ‘the voice at the back’ against Man Utd and has been ‘bossing people about’ – showing refreshing levels of confidence for a new signing.

This is great to hear. One thing goalkeepers perhaps live and die by is confidence levels and it seems Dubravka has that. He doesn’t come across remotely cocky in interviews, but it appears that he comes alive on the pitch – and that authoritative nature is something Rafa will have been looking for in his new number one.

Here’s what Lascelles has had to say about the Slovakian, giving an interesting insight into what’s impressed him since he arrived on deadline day:

“The new keeper was brilliant against Man United and made some great saves,”

“Normally new players can be a little bit shy or they don’t come out of their shell but in training he has come in, he wants to play and has been bossing people about.

“That is really good because he is the voice at the back and it is important that he speaks to his defenders.

“Fair play to him. He made some great saves and kept us a clean sheet.”

Onwards and upwards for Dubravka. He showed against Man Utd that he has it in his locker to become a very good keeper for us.

Hopefully he can show this once again at Bournemouth tomorrow.
