Aleksandar Mitrovic drops big hint on his NUFC future after finding form on loan with Fulham

Aleksandar Mitrovic has admitted that he ‘will see what happens’ in the summer, but hints that he would be happy to stay with the Championship side if he can fire them to promotion this season – stating how much he’s enjoying life with the London club.

The Serbian wished us ‘all the best’ for the rest of the season, hoping that we to stay up, however his comments here seem like the words of a man who is enjoying game time away from St James’ Park too much to consider coming back and fighting for his place again.

Here’s what he’s had to say:

“Of course I wish Newcastle all the best, I hope they will stay in the league, they deserve it because they have a good team, good fans and a good manager.

“I hope they will stay in the league and in the summer we will see what happens but I’m happy here, focused here and looking forward to playing every game.

“I’m really happy that, after a long time, I’m back on the pitch, and for the first time in I don’t know how long I played 90 minutes [against Wolves] and I really enjoyed the moment and I want to stay here and help Fulham get promoted.

“My only target is to help Fulham to get promoted. I enjoy it here and hope I can continue like this.”

As much as he loves Newcastle, I don’t think you could blame Mitrovic if he decided to move on permanently over the summer.

He’s now playing in a side that plays to his strengths (something Benitez’s NUFC have never been set up to do) and you can almost certainly see him moving to Fulham on a permanent deal if they were to earn promotion this season.

The fans their have taken to him immediately and their 4-3-3 system and attacking style of play gives him the sort of service he thrives on.

It might be a bitter pill to swallow for some NUFC fans, but I fully expect him to find a new club over the summer. One bonus is that the fee we can expect to receive will only increase every time he bangs in a goal for Fulham.
