“Many clubs will be interested in him” – Manager discusses summer move for NUFC attacker

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has admitted that Aleksandar Mitrovic is a ‘quality player’, hinting that he would be interested in making his loan move permanent in the summer – however he feels ‘many clubs’ will be interested in signing the Serbian.

The 23-year-old had been used sparingly at St James’ Park over the past 18 months, however his deadline day loan move to Fulham has given him a new lease of life.

He’s scored two goals in his last two games, including a superb solo goal against Wolves, and Fulham fans are already begging the club to secure him on a permanent deal this summer.

Fellow Serbian Slavisa Jokanovic has today been asked about the possibility of signing him this summer, suggesting he is a player they’d love to keep if they can achieve their ‘targets’ this season:

“I don’t buy & sell players. He’s a quality player, he showed the quality in these few games that he played with us and in the future we will see.”

“In this moment, we don’t make plans for next season, we are in situation for fighting for targets this season.

“In the summer, many things can happen, at the end he is a very good player and I believe many clubs will be interested in him.”

As reported by the Echo yesterday, Fulham’s hopes of signing Mitrovic may depend on the outcome of their promotion push.

That being said, would Benitez be keen on selling him to a newly-promoted side in the summer if we ended up staying up?

Fulham would be a direct rival of ours and we saw in January that Rafa was not willing to strengthen the hand of any club who could be competing with us in the league..

We shall see, but for now it’s just good to see him playing ahead of this summer’s World Cup. It’s in our interests to see him score goals.
