Summer blow for Benitez? Strongly-linked attacker favours move to Italy over NUFC

According to Turkish reports this morning, Galatasaray winger and alleged summer target Garry Rodrigues is pushing for a move to either AC Milan or Inter Milan over Newcastle United.

It has been revealed over the last few weeks that we made a £6m offer for the Dutch-born winger last summer, also seeing a marginally improved offer of £7m knocked back in January.

He has since enjoyed an impressive run of form in the Galatasaray side, with 3 goals and 4 assists in his last four outings, seeing the Turkish media suggest we’d have to pay a staggering £18m if we wanted to sign the 27-year-old.

It was recently claimed that he would be ‘keen’ on the prospect of a move to the Premier League, however Fotomac report today that he is pushing for a move to Italy, with AC and Inter Milan said to be eyeing a move:

“According to the Turkish outlet Fotomac, Rodrigues is keen on a move to either AC Milan or Inter Milan.”

It’s a persistent rumours, backed up by the fact NUFC officials have been present to watch him in action last month, however I am not going to lose sleep if we miss out on this one.

He turns 28 later this year and has not proven himself in any of Europe’s top leagues. Don’t we have enough pacey wingers whose final product is questionable?
