According to the Birstol Post, Newcastle United could be set to join Everton and Aston Villa in pursuing highly-rated Bristol City star Joe Bryan this summer – the left-back who has been described as ‘the best full-back in the Championship’.
The 24-year-old has shone in Birstol City’s impressive campaign in both league and cup, bagging 5 goals an 2 assists rom left-back.
Whilst Paul Dummett has been outstanding for us this season, Benitez has made it known that he’d like to add to his options at left-back (with Dummett being the only naturally left-sided full-back at his disposal), so strengthening this area could be on the agenda this summer.
It was stated during the January transfer window that both Newcastle and Everton scouts had watched the left-back on a ‘number of occasions’, so there’ll clearly be competition for his signature.
He’s certainly impressed me whenever I’ve watched Bristol City this season and looks the sort of high energy, technically capable full-back who could give us another option down our left-hand side and make the step up to the top flight:
