Belgian outlet DH.Be claim that Anderlecht are keen to sign £5m rated Newcastle goalkeeper Matz Sels this summer – however a deal looks set to hinge on their qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Belgian was signed by Benitez in the summer of 2016 for a fee in the region of £5m, however it looks like we are already keen to recoup that sort of fee following his unconvincing first season on Tyneside.

He completed a loan move to Anderlecht last summer and has played 27 times for the Belgian giants ever since – which included Champions League appearances against Bayern Munich and PSG).
It was initially suggested that Anderlecht may not have the finances to sign him permanently in the summer (something that limited them re-signing Aleksandar Mitrovic in January), however DH.Be claim that they will be able to complete a deal for Sels if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.
The report claims that Newcastle are looking to recoup ‘£4-£5m’ for Sels – a fee that would just about pay back what the 26-year-old Belgian international cost the club almost two years ago.
With Dubravka set to sign and Rafa planning a goalkeeping reshuffle at the club, Sels exit does look inevitable this summer – even if he never really got a proper chance to prove himself.
