Some worrying news for NUFC fans today, with it being confirmed that Matt Ritchie has been forced to withdraw from the Scotland squad after picking up a suspected groin injury.
Ritchie played 87 minutes on Friday in their 1-0 loss to Costa Rica. He appeared to come through the game unscathed, however he will play no part in their game in Hungary tomorrow and has now returned to Tyneside to be ‘assessed’.
This is a real worry ahead of Saturday’s crucial clash with Huddersfield. The Chronicle have suggested that he’s suffered a groin injury, but it’s not yet known whether his withdrawal was purely precautionary.

Hopefully it was just a precaution and he can be back playing at St James’ on Saturday.
He hasn’t been at his best this season, however he’***** form at the right time in recent weeks, scoring in recent home wins over Man Utd and Southampton.
Fingers crossed!
