NUFC loanee Aleksandar Mitrovic was back amongst the goals once against last night, scoring twice in Serbia’s 2-0 win over Nigeria last night.
The term ‘Mitro’s on fire’ often felt overused and unjustified given he tended not to set the world alight on Tyneside, however that can’t be said now, with him scoring 9 goals in his last 8 games for club and country.
Here’s his two well-taken goals during the World Cup warm up game at Barnet’s Hive Stadium last night:

That’s now 7 goals in his last 6 games for Fulham and 11 goals in his last 16 for Serbia.
Fans will continue to question just why we let him go (which is easy to say in hindsight after his replacement has struggled to recover from injury), however I for one am just pleased to see him playing and scoring.
It only serves to help Newcastle (providing we stay up), as he is our player at the end of the day. Whether that means he returns to Tyneside a better player or demands a bigger fee this summer, it’s a win/win if we stay up.
Two good goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic for Serbia tonight. Great to see him playing with confidence – I still feel given the right formation he can cut it in the Premier League. Probably (unfortunately, well depending on your view point) just not at #NUFC

I think he’s found his level. Well done Mitro keep adding to your value lad and we might get a decent replacement.
