According the the Mirror, Newcastle United officials have stepped up their efforts to sign Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup, holding talks with the Turkish international over a potential move to St James’ Park this summer.
The 25-year-old hasn’t signed a new contract with the Turkish giants and had been linked with a free agent move to Everton, however the Mirror reckon we’ve made some strides towards hijacking that deal.
They claim that NUFC representatives have ‘held talks’ with Kees Vos – the agent of the Besiktas skipper – and also suggest that we are prepared to meet his £2.5m a season wage demands:

Ozyakup is a former Arsenal youngster, but has bagged 27 goals and 48 assists in 213 games for the Besiktas since making the move to his homeland back in 2012.
Not the first time we’ve been linked and not the last we will be either by the looks of it. He looks like one to watch this summer..
Here he is in action – a central midfielder by trade but someone who could play in the no.10 role perhaps?
