Cardiff boss Neil Warnock believes promotion rivals Fulham made the ‘best signing in the whole league’ when Aleksandar Mitrovic arrived on loan in January – with the NUFC striker having gone on to score 9 goals in 11 games for the Cottagers.
Whilst Wolves are leading the way in the second tier and look set to win the title comfortably, Warnock’s Cardiff had taken up second spot for several weeks – all until a few nights ago.
Their loss at Villa combined with Fulham’s 1-0 win over Reading saw Mitrovic’s new side leapfrog Cardiff and move into the automatic promotion places.
Warnock responded by praising their move to sign the Serbian in January, feeling he’s been exactly what they’ve been missing for the past few seasons:
“The striker they got on loan (Mitrovic) has been the best signing in the whole league.
“That’s what they’ve been missing for the past few years and all credit to them.”
Mitrovic’s form really has been outstanding and it’s no coincidence that Fulham have won 10 and drawn 3 of their 13 games since he’s signed.
Sheffield boss Chris Wilder praised him when Fulham put three past them at Craven Cottage a few months ago, and Warnock has joined him, admitted just how good he’s been for the league’s new second place side.
