NUFC scouts travel abroad to watch highly-rated midfielder in action last night – Report

According to Turkish Football, Newcastle scouts were present to watch Trabzonspor midfielder Okay Yokuslu in action during his side’s Super Lig clash with Osmanlispor last night.

After strong links to Besiktas trio Tosun, Arslan and Ozyakup (and Galatasary’s Garry Rodrigues) over the past 6 months, it seems NUFC scouts are closely monitoring talent in Turkey these days.

The next name to add to that list appears to be 6ft 3′ holding midfielder Okay Yokuslu – with Turkish Football announcing last night that Newcastle scouts were present to watch him ahead of a potential summer move.

The 24-year-old Turkish international can operate as a centre-back or defensive midfielder, with Yokuslu having been described as the ‘Turkish Sergio Busquets’ by Spanish press recently.

As ever with any transfer rumour (especially those that come from Turkey), we’ll wait and see what comes of it, but a young player that can operate in two areas we’ll be looking to beef up this summer (CB/CM) would no doubt appeal to Benitez.

  1. No chance while the Fat Man is still there , I can only see the Fat ******* cashing in on Lascelles then signing someone from a local pub team to replace him..

  2. Wouldn’t be anywhere near as impressive in the prem.

Reminds me of Tiote when McClaren told him to back off a bit. Lots of touches but nothing substantial.

This guy gets the touches but his passes all seem to be into putting the next guy in trouble.
