Plenty Mags enjoyed the Mackems relegation to League One over the weekend and local lad Paul Dummett was one of them – with the NUFC left back posting a ‘waving hand’ in reaction to Sunderland’s drop down to the third tier of English football.
As many will know, Chris Coleman’s side were actually looking good for three points on Saturday, being 1-0 up with just 5 minutes to play against relegation rivals Burton, however that quickly changed.
Ex-striker Darren Bent came back to haunt them with a 86th minute equaliser, topped off by a 92nd minute winner from Brewers striker Liam Boyce – the goal that ultimately sent the Mackems down on Saturday afternoon.
Paul Dummett had no sympathy though, waving goodbye to our North-East rivals after NUFC 360’s tweeted: “‘Enjoy Burton,’ they said. Sunderland 1-2 Burton. SUNDERLAND ARE RELEGATED TO LEAGUE ONE!!!”

Hopefully this one ages better than Jordan Pickford’s ‘Going down, staying up’ tweet from 2016!
