Ex-NUFC star receives ‘vile’ abuse & death threats after nightmare performance – shocking news

Some pretty horrific news from Italy today, as the girlfriend of ex-NUFC defender Davide Santon has admitted that they have been receiving ‘death threats’ on social media following his performance in the 3-2 defeat to Juventus on Saturday night.

The Italian full-back came on as a late sub, brought on to protect Inter Milan’s 2-1 lead over Juventus, however he ended up being culpable for TWO late goals scored by Italian champions.

They ended up winning 3-2 in dramatic fashion at the San Siro – a result that came as a significant blow to Inter’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League this season.

He and his family have since been the victims of some vile abuse from Inter ‘fans’, with girlfriend Chloe Sanderson saying the following on her Instagram story in response to the death threats over the weekend:

“I’m really lost for words about humans,”

“People commenting on this game have been sending death threats, threats of rape or wishing disease on us.

“To the idiots who believe that the money [Davide earns] alleviates these comments, all I can say is that my father is currently dying due to a pancreatic tumour and money does not help.

“Football is about passion and I understand and appreciate that, but for the first time in my life, I’m afraid of being at home alone with my baby. When you’re being told to lock yourself in and that you need to worry whether your partner will come home, then it’s not OK.

“No one is more devastated about the result tonight than Davide.”

Truly awful stuff and something no family (or footballer) should ever have to deal with after a game.

We sincerely hope the abuse stops and the situation is soon sorted for Davide, Chloe and their young child’s sake.
