Sky Sports have confirmed in the last few moments that Rafa Benitez WILL make Martin Dubravka his first summer signing at Newcastle United – with the club all set to activate their £4m option to sign the Slovakian on a permanent deal rom Sparta Prague.
It’s a deal we always seemed confident of securing, so comes as news most of us were expecting, but it’s hugely positive, with the 29-year-old having been absolutely outstanding since arriving on loan in January
He’s brought a sense of calm and confidence to the back line, has been commanding from crosses, composed with his feet and has shown his cat-like reflexes too, pulling off two more vital saves to keep us ahead during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Chelsea.
Since his arrival we’ve been transformed at home, conceding just TWICE in six games against Chelsea, Manchester Utd, Arsenal, Southampton, Huddersfield and West Brom.
An incredible stat, a brilliant piece of business and a player who’s fast becoming a fan favourite at St James’ Park too.

Maybe Martin knows something we don’t know? ? Nice thought if nothing else.
