Speaking to Spanish radio station ‘Radio MARCA Tenerife’, Ayoze Perez has confirmed that he has ‘no plans’ to leave Newcastle United this summer, stating he’s ‘very comfortable’ on Tyneside and enjoying life in the Premier League.
The Spaniard has come under criticism at times over the past few years, but he’s showing clear signs of development under Rafa and came into form at just the right time at the end of the season – with 6 goals in our last 8 games making him our top scorer for 2017/18 with 10 goals.
His form is believed to have attracted interest from Real Betis – the La Liga side who’ve just qualified for Europe after an impressive 6th place finish – however he doesn’t sound like a player about to leave this summer based on these comments.
Here’s what he’s said to Radio MARCA today when asked about his future:
“Newcastle is my second home. I’ve been there four years and I’ve grown a lot. I’m almost bilingual! “
“To this day I have no plans to leave. I’m very comfortable at Newcastle and in the Premier League.
“It’s a very professional
“I’m a little English now!”
He can frustrate and I still have my doubts that he’s an actual number 10 (he comes alive in the box and seems more of a goalscorer than a creator), but he’s a player who does an effective job in our team.
Hopefully he can kick on next season after a sparkling end to the 2017/18 campaign. He’s got the potential, he just needs to start delivering what he’s capable of a little more regularly.
Has all the tools and could be a big next season for him..
