Rafa Benitez makes his move to re-sign Kenedy from Chelsea – good news for NUFC

Rafa Benitez has issued a ‘sales pitch’ to Kenedy to bring the Brazilian back to Newcastle United this summer – and the Chronicle also claim that talk of Antonio Conte staying at Chelsea could be set to increase our chances of bringing him back.

The story states that Kenedy is currently on holiday assessing his offers with his agent, claiming that Rafa has advised him to return to NUFC and continue playing every week – also suggesting that another loan deal looks the most realistic option for all parties.

Following an impressive six months at St James’, it has emerged that the likes of PSG, Bayern, Arsenal and Liverpool are all monitoring his situation, but Benitez is believed to have assured the 22-year-old that he’ll get regular game time at NUFC – something he wouldn’t get if he secured a ‘big move’ elsewhere this summer.

Despite major uncertainty over his future, there’s also been fresh claims this week that Antonio Conte could be set to stay at Chelsea – which could be significant for us.

The Italian seems far more likely to allow Kenedy to go out on loan again after sanctioning the deal in January, however any new manager would almost certainly want to take a good look at him over pre-season – delaying any potential deal (something that wouldn’t suit Rafa given his preference to get business done early).

It still seems like a difficult deal to do, but Benitez’s sales pitch and Kenedy’s bond with the club mean another loan deal could make sense for all parties – not forgetting it’d also free up some cash to enable the signing of a proven striker and quality number 10.

Fingers crossed!
