A round up of all of today’s news & transfer gossip:

  • NUFC have announced their retained list following the 2017/18 season, confirming exits for Jesus Gamez, Massaido Haidara and several known U-23 players – with new deals being offered to Luke Charman and Callum Roberts – See all the ins and out here.
  • Speaking to the Serbian press, Aleksandar Mitrovic has admitted that he will ‘definitely join’ Fulham if they made an offer to sign him this summer – making it quite clear that a return to Craven Cottage is his preferred destination – Full story here. 
  • According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Newcastle United have their eye on highly-rated Middlesbrough youngster Bilal Brahimi – the 18-year-old winger who has caught the eye since arriving in England last summer – Full story here. 
  • According to MARCA, Newcastle are ‘very interested’ in signing long-term target Bas Dost this summer – and the prolific striker could be available on a free as he considers terminating his contract after being attacked by Sporting fans – Full story here.
  • After claims from Turkey that we were in talks with Fenerbahce over his potential signing, the Northern Echo claim that Rafa Benitez is interest in bringing Martin Skrtel to St James’ Park – Full story here. 

  • Newcastle could be set to demand just £10m for Mikel Merino this summer according to Bilbao-based publication ‘Deia’ – a fee that doesn’t seem nearly enough for a player of his age and potential – Full story here. 
  • Mike Ashley will only be able to sell NUFC to wealthy ‘overseas investors’ according to financial expert Kieran Maguire – who feels his revised price tag of £400m is too steep, making us an unrealistic investment for domestic buyers – Full story here. 
  • After finishing in the top 10 just weeks after we were tipped for relegation, Jamaal Lascelles has hit back at the critics claiming we ‘weren’t good enough’ last season – admitting it’s nice to have no proved the doubters wrong in the end – Full story here.
