NUFC ‘closing in’ in on deal to sign striker after 11 goal season in the Premier League – Report

Newcastle are ‘closing in’ on the signing of Swansea forward Jordan Ayew according to Football Ghana, who claim we could beat Fulham to the signing of £13m-rated forward.

The newly promoted side have had a £8m bid rejected for Ayew and their story now claims that we could be set to beat them to his signing this summer

Ayew was Swansea’s top scorer last season, being one of their few shining lights in an otherwise dismal season with 11 goals in all competitions.

Here’s a snippet from Football Ghana’s piece today:

Newcastle United have expressed their interest in signing Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew from Swansea City.

Jordan was Swansea’s top goalscorer last season with seven goals in the league- 11 in all competitions, as well as one of their top performers.

However, newly promoted side to Premier League, Fulham have made an initial £8million bid for the Ghanaian rejected will now have to battle it out with the Magpies who are closing in on the £13m rated forward.

Now, I can see quite a few being underwhelmed if Ayew was our big striker this summer – and if that was the case I’d tend to agree – however I don’t see that being the case.

Ayew could well be looked at as a potential replacement for Gayle – someone I see us selling if Stoke up their offer and we find a replacement.

I’d do that deal. Ayew was impressive last season, looking skilful, a confident finisher, a hard worker and versatile too – with him being able to play up top, off the striker and out wide.

If he arrived as Gayle’s replacement, would you take him?
