According to Ligue 1 journalist Manu Lonjon, Newcastle are interested in signing Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien – however we look set to face competition from Southampton for the giant Frenchman.
The 6ft 5′ defender had been linked with a move to Ajax, however it’s been reported in France that the he is now ‘desperate’ to secure a move to the Premier League this summer – something that looks very likely given his alleged asking price of just £8m.
The former French youth international is highly-rated in France and has previously been linked with the likes of Burnley and Palace, however French football reporter Manu Lonjon claims that both Newcastle and Southampton are now battling it out for his signature:

Will end up at Southampton because they will pay close to what the selling club want we’re as we will offer some stupid amount

Could well be right.
Just like Van Dijk potentially. We both knew he was a snip from Celtic but only one club showed any real intent to go out and get him.

Have to say, you don’t often get the words “Highly rated”, “Burnley” and “Palace all in the same sentence.
