The exciting loan deals Rafa Benitez could pull off for NUFC this summer

With Benitez’s budget likely to be limited (again), Newcastle may well look to the loan market to provide the much needed quality we lack in certain areas of the field.

After all, the loans of Dubravka and Kenedy made such a difference last season and a manager of the calibre of Benitez will have contacts at a lot of the top clubs we could utilise.

With this ind mind, here’s a few ambitious but possible loan deals he may pursue this summer:

Ruben Loftus Cheek

A good World Cup may take him out of reach, but he could be the number 10 we are looking for – as well as him being able to operate out wide and in midfield.  Benitez tried to sign the promising youngster last summer and the Chronicle reckon he’ll push hard to get him to Newcastle this summer. Likely to still be on the outskirts at Chelsea and a move could suit all parties – although there’ll be plenty interest.

Adam Lallana

After a recent long-term injury he’s fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool and I can’t see him getting much game time given all the signings they’re making, with Fekir mentioned. He needs game time to get back into the England picture and would be the ideal number 10 we are lacking – not forgetting Rafa will have brilliant contacts with old club Liverpool.

Danny Drinkwater

A Premier League winner and another player who needs game time after a £25 move from Leicester. Would potentially form a formidable partnership with Shelvey in the middle of the park and would be an excellent screen for the back four. Not featured at all really for Chelsea so a deal could just happen and could be accelerated with the possible departure of Merino. Also worth mentioning that Chelsea are another club Rafa has a great relationship with – although he may want to use loan market for Kenedy/Loftus Cheek instead.

Luke Shaw

Out of sorts at Manchester United and if the links to the likes of Spurs don’t come off, could be one who seeks a loan move come the end of the window to secure regular football. Mourinho just signed another full back in Dalot from Porto so he doesn’t seem to be staying there long term.

Kenedy

A permanent deal may be too expensive but we’d be happy to have him back again am sure and he really was a revelation last year. A new loan agreement would give us an excellent player next year and Chelsea may feel his value would then be even higher. One to watch this summer and a loan would be next best thing if we can’t get him back permanently.

Alex Iwobi

An exciting player who caused Dummett all sorts of problems earlier this year. He may not be in Emery’s plans & needs game time. Could have similar impact to Kenedy and his pace and trickery would be a real asset.

Would you take any of these players on loan? Who would be your picks if we were scouring the top 6 for potential loan arrivals?
