Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark has been ‘knocked unconscious’ and ‘rushed’ to a local hospital after being attacked in a bar during his summer holiday in Magaluf.
The Mirror claim that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday night in Crystal’s Bar in Magaluf, claiming that he was involved in a row with the man who later punched him in the face twice – leaving him unconscious on the ground.
Here’s a bit more information on the matter from the Mirror:
“The Republic of Ireland defender – who played for England up to U20 level – is said to have been rushed to Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma after being punched in the face by a man he had previously rowed with.
“Police arrested the alleged attacker, who was released on bail pending an ongoing criminal investigation following a court appearance on Monday.
“Local paper Ultima Hora said the early-hours incident happened on Saturday at Crystal’s Bar in Magaluf and described the man arrested afterwards as a 6ft 2in well-built foreigner.
“It reported Clark, 28, got into a row with his alleged attacker after complaining he had pushed him on the dance floor.
“The man he argued with is said to have hit him once before leaving the bar and then returning to punch the footballer in the mouth, leaving him unconscious on the ground.”
They state that Clark’s current whereabouts is not known, but with pre-season less than two weeks away, we may just see the defender return to Tyneside with quite a shiner.
