According to the Guardian, Dannys Ings has decided to leave Liverpool this summer in a bid to play regular first team football – and Rafa Benitez looks almost certain to reignite his interest in the striker he’s made moves to sign over the last two windows.
The 25-year-old striker has had rotten luck with injuries since his move to Anfield a few years ago and, although he was fit and ready to play over the second half of last season, he was unable to break into Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Since his plans to leave were confirmed today, the Chronicle’s Chris Waugh has hinted that Newcastle could go back in for Ings this summer, confirming that Rafa made moves to sign him both in January and last this time last year.

It’d be a bit of a risk given his lack of football recently, however he could be the sort of player who may thrive under Rafa – and someone who could be affordable if Liverpool allowed him to leave on a cut-price deal.
He’s a hard worker and will be hungry to impress, so if he was able to get back to full fitness and re-find his shooting boots, he could be a vert smart signing for Newcastle this summer.
Would you take him?
Unless there is no fee, and he will agree to a massive pay cut I doubt he will be seen at the Toon any time soon…..

Of all the strikers we have been linked to, Ings is a bit of a stand out for experience and talent – you’ld take him in a heart beat, if you could afford him. And, that’s the problem for NUFC.
We won’t get any money from Ashley, we won’t get much money from the TV deal (as Ashley will only allow those payments which have actually come in be spent, he won’t allow staggered payments for players, in line with future TV money coming in – you would think that was a poor business decision, but the truth seems to be that Ashley wants to keep that money for himself, rather than let it fall under the ‘every penny’ that Rafa can have for recuitment), and we won’t get more than a token amount of money from player sales (because (1) Ashley allows other clubs to pay us in installments, as it puts the bulk of the income outside of the ‘every penny’ lie he likes to hide behind, (2) the players we want rid of, don’t want to go, cos they are on such big wages, and (3) even those who we could sell, arn’t going to raise anything like what we would like).
NUFC can’t afford Ings – he won’t be joining us 😥
