Crystal Palace offer NUFC the chance to re-sign Andros Townsend – But there’s one huge issue

According to the Times, Crystal Palace have told Newcastle that they are willing to sell Andros Townsend this summer – but only if Mike Ashley meets their staggering £30m asking price.

It was reported in the Mirror just a few weeks ago that Rafa Benitez was keen to re-sign the winger this summer, with them claiming that we’d had a £20m enquiry knocked back by the Eagles.

This, to me, seemed like a hefty price as it is for a player we sold for £13m just two years ago, however it seems they are now demanding over double that – a move which could all but end our interest.

Players are going for silly money in this day and age and Benitez may be very keen to have him back, but there’s no way we’ll be paying anywhere near that sort of money for Townsend.

If Kenedy is available for £20m, I know who I’d rather be spending my money on – especially if Rafa’s budget is as modest as some have suggested.
