Sky Sports have confirmed in the last few moments that Newcastle are now in talks with Crystal Palace over a deal that could see Andros Townsend return to the club.
The winger joined Palace from Newcastle for £13m this time two years ago, however there’s always been a feeling that Benitez would make a move to bring him back to the club once we were back in the top flight.
The Mirror claimed just a few weeks ago that we’d had a £20m offer rejected, and while that seems to be wide of the mark (with Sky reporting no bid as of yet), it does seem that we are now pushing to bring him back.

With Ritchie being linked with a £15m move to Stoke, this has made a few wonder whether we’d cash in on Ritchie and replace him with Townsend – a deal that may not go down all too well on Tyneside.
If the above was true, would you be happy to have him back?
I’d have him back at Newcastle to be fair. He played probably his best football under Benitez the last time he was here.
I’m certain the fans would forgive his dis-loyalty if he could reignite the form he had during his last spell here?
So for me, I’d like to see Townsend back playing for NUFC.
