Exclusive claims NUFC have had a bid rejected for Ligue 1 striker – Report

An exclusive from French outlet Le10 Sport claims Newcastle have had a bid rejected for Nice striker Alassane Plea – with the French league side believed to have described it as an ‘insufficient’ offer.

Sky Sports confirmed our interest in the 25-year-old forward just yesterday and it’s now being claimed in France that we’ve submitted an offer – although the exact amount we’re believed to have offered is not stated.

It’s no surprise to hear our alleged offer has come in below their asking price. Sky confirmed that West Ham had made a £27m bid for the striker over the weekend, and you just know Mike Ashley won’t be offering that sort of money.

Here’s a snippet from Le10 Sport’s story today:

‘According to our information, another club has just officially declared: it is Newcastle .

‘An offer was sent to the OGC Nice, but it was rejected by the Riviera club.’

Plea scored 21 goals in all competitions last season and looks likely to make the move to England this summer, with Spurs, West Ham and Fulham all strongly linked.

I have no doubt that we’re interested, but I seriously doubt we’ll have any chance here if the likes of West Ham are willing to pay £25m plus.
