Newcastle ‘leading the race’ to sign up-for-sale Premier League striker – Report

According to the Mirror, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are ‘leading the race’ to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

The striker has had his injury problems over the last few years, however he’s struggled to break into Liverpool’s starting line-up despite his return to full fitness over the second half of the 2017/18 season.

As a result, it was confirmed just last week that he will be allowed to leave the club this summer in search of regular first-team football, and it seems ourselves and Palace are at the front of the queue.

It’s quite clear that he’s a player Benitez has been looking at over the past two or three windows too, with the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas confirming Rafa’s interest.

His injury record is a worry, but he’ll be hungry to get his Premier League career back on track and could be a very smart signing IF he can prove his fitness.

A risk worth taking?

  1. Oh come on. He’s a serious injury problem – he’ll play as often as Slimani did
