According to Sky Sports, Newcastle are now ‘in talks’ to sign Nice striker Alassane Plea despite having an initial bid rejected for the Frenchman yesterday.
Our interest in the 25-year-old was confirmed by Sky over the weekend – with West Ham, Spurs and Fulham also linked – and it was announced just yesterday that we had made an official bid to sign him.
It was our first cash bid of the summer according to Lee Ryder and it was rejected, however it seems as though it hasn’t deterred our interest, with Sky claiming that we’re now in talks with Nice and expected to make another bid.

The value of our initial bid has not been reported as of yet, but it was been described as ‘insufficient’ by French outlet Le10 Sport. One thing that seems certain is the fact we’ll have to break our £17m transfer record if we wish to sign him.
He scored 21 goals in France last season and is one of Ligue 1’s most highly-rated strikers.
Newcastle are in talks with Nice to sign forward Alassane Pléa. We’re told they’ve already had one bid rejected but remain interested in the player. Pléa didn’t turn up for first day of preseason training at Nice yesterday.
