A round up of all of today’s news & transfer gossip:

  • According to Sky Sports, Newcastle are now ‘in talks’ to sign Nice striker Alassane Plea despite having an initial bid rejected for the Frenchman – Full story here. 
  • Sky Sports’ Kaven Solhekol claims that sources close to Alessane Plea have confirmed that Newcastle have made a bid ‘worth up to £27m’ for the striker – however the offer has been rejected by Nice – Full story here. 
  • According to the Telegraph, Aleksandar Mitrovic is now ‘closing in’ on a £20m move to Fulham – with the Serbian expected to become their new club record signing when he returns from holiday – Full story here. 
  • The Chronicle have denied claims that Matt Ritchie’s  is ‘all set’ to join Stoke after claims last night that an offer had been accepted for the Newcastle winger – Full story here. 
  • According to Simon Johnson – Chelsea’s reporter for the Evening Standard – NUFC are now discussing a deal to sign Kenedy on loan with an option to buy – suggesting the Brazilian WILL be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer – Full story here. 

  •  Former Newcastle United defender Massaido Haidara has completed a move back to France today, joining Ligue 2 side RC Lens after being released by the club this summer – Full story here. 
  • With NUFC’s bid for Alassane Plea falling on the final day of season ticket renewals at Newcastle United, certain fans have come up with a worrying and very plausible theory about Mike Ashley – Full story here. 
  • According to the Chronicle, Rafa Benitez has ‘made it clear’ that he’d like to sign KenedySalomon Rondon and Andros Townsend– however he’s aware that deals for all three may be unrealistic unless he raises additional funds – Full story here.
