Journalist confirms NUFC have made bids for TWO strikers – Hints new signing could arrive soon

Lee Ryder has confirmed that Newcastle made bids for BOTH Alassane Plea and Salomon Rondon last week – admitting that there’s a ‘good chance’ we’ll have another signing through the door by the time we return from this week’s training camp in Ireland

He admits that moves for either ‘did not quite come off’, however it seems that Rafa is not focusing all of his attention on signing a new striker ahead of the squad’s pre-season trip to Ireland on Wednesday.

Here’s what Lee has had to say during his latest transfer update, suggesting that Benitez may want both Plea AND Rondon in at NUFC, and hinting that a new signing looks likely to arrive over the next week:

One thing that is a slight worry here is the fact we’ve made a bid for Rondon when his release clause is £16.5m – suggesting we’re intent on signing players on the cheap once again and will refuse to pay the asking price.

Either way, there’s some positives we can take from this transfer update, with Ryder suggesting that there’s a ‘good chance’ we’ll see another name through the door by the time we return from our pre-season training camp in Ireland.

Fingers crossed!
