Rafa Benitez provides update on Kenedy’s imminent move from Chelsea – ‘It is still not done’

Rafa Benitez has admitted that Kenedy’s move to Newcastle United is ‘still not done’, however he feels it is ‘very close to happening’ and a deal that will be very good for ‘the team and the fans’.

Kenedy travelled to Tyneside last night ahead of a season-long loan move and it looks like the deal will be announced officially either tonight or tomorrow morning – with him having already completed his medical at the club.

“It is great news for us.

“It is still not done but it is very close to happening.”

“It’s good for the team and for the fans. I’m pushing him now because if he plays at the same level as last year, I will be happy but, still, he has to score more goals!”

I love this from Rafa. In typical Benitez style, he acknowledges how good he was last season, but is always striving for improvement – challenging Kenedy to ‘score more goals!’ next season for NUFC.

Back to the deal itself and it sounds like there’s very little to worry about on this one, with Lee Ryder expecting it to be announced as soon as the paperwork is completed.
