Sky reveal Crystal Palace’s asking price for Andros Townsend as Benitez plans exciting move

According to Sky Sports News, Rafa Benitez is keen to bring Andros Townsend back to NUFC and has been told that Crystal Palace are willing to sell him for £17m.

This comes after news of Kenedy’s imminent arrival on Tyneside, with Sky suggesting that Benitez is keen to bring Townsend back to the club alongside the Brazilian – meaning some more potentially exciting transfer news for us NUFC fans.

Here’s a snippet from Sky’s latest piece on our transfer activity, stating that Palace would be open to selling Townsend for £17m:

Newcastle are also keen on re-signing Andros Townsend, who left the club in 2016, with Crystal Palace understood to be willing to sell him for around £17m.

However, Sky Sports News understands Kenedy’s move is independent of any deal for Townsend.

It’s been made quite clear that Townsend’s arrival will only occur if we sell Ritchie – who’s been strongly linked with Stoke – however the prospect of Kenedy and Townsend out wide next season is a very exciting one.

With Kenedy’s loan move expected to be announced today, let’s hope we can now press on with moves for a new striker and Townsend – being two deals which really could transform our attacking heading into the new season.

  2. Not worth the 17 million he left us don’t need a mersonary move on to some one who would burst a gut playing for the toon

  3. Sorry to disagree but I would have him back. Got more pace than Ritchie and did really well for the period we had him. He left because Palace triggered is release clause and he reluctantly left hoping he would keep his England place. He didn’t agitate for a move like many othets.
