Benitez reveals the big challenge he’s set Kenedy ahead of his arrival from Chelsea

Rafa Benitez has challenged Kenedy to ‘score more goals’ ahead of his second loan stint at St James’ Park, with the Spaniard admitting that he’ll be ‘pushing him’ to get better and better following his move from Chelsea.

A deal for Kenedy has not been announced as of yet, but it’s understood that his arrival on loan is imminent – and Benitez’s comments here practically confirm that he will be a Newcastle player for next season at least.

Here’s what Rafa’s had to say about the Brazilian ahead of the new season, challenging him to repeat his performances from last season AND add some much needed goals to his game.

“I’m pushing him now.

“If he plays this season like he did last season, I will be happy but, still, he has to score more goals!”

“Everybody knows what he did last year. He was a great player for us. I think it’s good for the fans and the team.

“The fans will be excited to have Kenedy for another year.”

I don’t see why he couldn’t. He may like to pull wide, whip crosses in and run at his man, but Kenedy’s goals in last season’s 3-0 win over Southampton prove that he’s a real threat in the box when he wants to be.

How many goals do you think he’ll be able to bag next season and what do you feel is a realistic tally now we’ve got him for the entire 2018/19 season?
