Newcastle make ‘offer’ to re-sign Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum – Dubious reports

According to reports in Turkey, Newcastle United have ‘made an offer’ to bring Georginio Wijnaldum back to the club – with the Liverpool midfielder said to be considering his future at Anfield after the signings of Fabinho and Keita.

Turkish paper ‘The Takvim’ claim Fenerbahce are in talks to sign the Dutchman this summer, however they insist that they’re now facing competition from Newcastle – suggesting Benitez is keen to re-sign the man we sold for £25m two seasons ago.

It goes without saying, but this one needs to be taken with a real pinch of salt for a whole host of reasons.

It’s claimed that he is ‘considering his options’ following Liverpool’s big money moves for Keita and Fabinho – who will almost certainly knock Wijnaldum out of Klopp’s first team – however that still doesn’t make me believe we’d be able to re-sign him.

Firstly, he’s done pretty well for himself since signing at Anfield – so there’d be plenty sides interested if he did end up leaving – and secondly, he’d cost a minimum of the £25m Liverpool paid for him last summer.

I’m sure Rafa would love to have him back, but I can’t see this happening for a second.

    Yeh, I’d tend to agree.

Really doubt we’d pursue a deal that seems way out of our reach at present.
