Transfer talk – a round-up of today’s NUFC news & gossip – 13/07/2018

A round up of all of today’s news & transfer gossip:

  • Newcastle have missed out on the signing of Alassane Plea, with the French striker completing a £22m move to Germany today. The Chronicle have revealed just why we missed out and it sounds typical Mike Ashley – Full story here. 
  • According to reports on Wearside, Sunderland are now ‘very interested’ in a deal to sign Newcastle United’s Ivan Toney on loan for the 2018/19 season – Full story here. 
  • Rafa Benitez has warned Mike Ashley that he must deliver the goods over the final few weeks of the transfer window, admitting that we may be left ‘trying to avoid relegation’ again next season if we do not start spending – Full story here. 
  • Rafa Benitez wants Andros Townsend back at Newcastle this summer and it’s now become clear just what needs to happen to make the move a reality – with LiverpoolWest HamStoke AND Crystal Palace all having a huge part to play – Full story here.
