NUFC quoted ridiculous price for long-term Benitez target – Another one we can forget about?

Liverpool will demand a whopping £20m for Danny Ings this summer according to reports over the weekend – a ridiculous asking price and a player Newcastle are almost certain to pass on if this proves to be true.

Ings showed what he was capable of during his debut season in the Premier League with Burnley back in 2014/15 – bagging 11 goals and 4 assists – however he’s made just FOURTEEN appearances in the top flight in three years since, scoring just once.

He’s a hard worker and capable striker on his day (which isn’t very often these days!), but injuries have hampered his career – meaning it’d be a ridiculously big risk for Benitez to take at £20m.

Here’s what the Sun have had to say, claiming the interested clubs are only willing to pay around half of their ‘stunning’ asking price:

“Liverpool want a stunning £20million for Ings — who they bought from Burnley for just £6.5m in 2015.

“The one-cap England star is also fancied by Crystal Palace, but Southampton are willing to pay around half of the £20m asking price with extras on appearances.

A cut-price deal would make sense as he could be a decent player for us if he kept fit and found form under Benitez, but recent seasons have suggested that he’s not capable of staying away from the injury table.

Prices really really have gone crazy if £20m gets you and injury ravaged Danny Ings in 2018.

Goodness knows what striker we’ll be able to sign this summer if we’re not prepared to break our transfer budget!

  1. A ridiculous price for Ings, but OK for Mitro??

Plus – as usual I’m confused.

Headline says we’ve been quoted a ridiculous price while the article says Liverpool WILL demand 20 mill.

What’s it gonna be – Will or Did?
